The Triangle region is made up of three anchor cities: Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Durham. Together, the three cities are the economic engine for the state with an estimated population of 1.6 million residents (2011 Census). The Triangle region’s intellectual capital draws a diverse workforce for the Research Triangle Park, Duke Medical Center, educational institutions, and other businesses.
